Bloc Party
Appeared in these episodes:
Great Britain’s Bloc Party has gained critical huzzahs and a worldwide following for its powerful, atmospheric postpunk. The quartet was formed by guitarists Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack in 2002 as Union, changing the name to Bloc Party with the acquisition of its current rhythm section. A series of demos and concerts followed, before Okereke passed a copy of a single to Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos and an influential BBC DJ, resulting in festival invitations and radio airplay. Since then, the group has recorded the acclaimed albums Silent Alarm and A Weekend in the City, placed its singles “Pioneers” and “I Still Remember” in a variety of TV shows and ads and built a huge global audience.
